How to send SMS messages

Follow the steps below to send a message:

  • Step 1: Log into the school portal and navigate to Communication on the main menu
  • Step 2: Click SMS, a submenu of Communication
  • Step 3: Click Compose, a sub-menu of SMS
  • Step 4: Check any of the boxes under the recipient option to see the field where the recipients will be selected
  • Step 5: Enter your message in the message field. (Let your message be clear and short since this is an SMS)
  • Step 6: Choose when the SMS should be sent, either Now or Later. (If Later is selected, then two more fields will appear for the date and time the message should be sent. Use the calendar to fill in the date)
  • Step 7: Click the Send button

Note

Important things to consider when selecting recipients:

  • Default option: This field allows the selection of any group as recipients, depending on predefined categories (e.g. All Staff, All Parents, All Parents in of wards in a particular class, All Non-teaching Staff, etc.)
  • Specific option: This field allows the selection of specific individuals as recipients among the staff, parents, or students.
  • Prospect: This field allows the selection of prospective parents/guardians whose details have been entered into the system.
  • Admission Form Applicants: This field allows the selection of prospective parents or students whose application has been processed.

How to View SMS Sent

Follow the steps to view sent messages:

  • Step 1: Click SMS, a submenu of Communication
  • Step 2: Click Sent, a sub-menu of SMS
This opens to a page where there is a list of all SMS sent and more information on each SMS sent.

How to View SMS Scheduled

Follow the steps below to view scheduled messages:

  • Step 1: Click SMS (a menu under Communication)
  • Step 2: Click Scheduled, a sub-menu of SMS
This opens to a page where there is a list of all SMS scheduled to be sent at a future date.
Click the DELETE button to remove the message from the system if the intention is not to send it again. However, removal can only be done before the time the SMS is scheduled to be sent.
